What We Believe

Because the congregation and leadership of Faith Bible Church seek to remain faithful to God, to obey His Word, and “to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints” we declare these Articles of Faith as the basis of our church’s constitution.

Section 1. The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments  are the inspired (God-breathed) Word, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the Divine and final authority for all Christians in faith and life.

Section 2. The Trinity

We believe in one true God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

    A. GOD THE FATHER

We believe the Father is the first person of the Trinity and the source of all that God is and does. From Him the Son is eternally generated and from them, the Spirit eternally proceeds. He is the designer of creation, the speaker of revelation, the author of redemption, and the sovereign of history.

   B. GOD THE SON

         1. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, and the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He became man without ceasing to be God in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men.

         2. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for all mankind as a representative and vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice. The sufficiency of His atoning sacrifice is accomplished for the redemption and justification of all who trust in Him. We believe in His literal and physical resurrection from the dead.

         3. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God the Father, as our high priest. He serves as our representative, intercessor, and advocate.

   C. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He regenerates and baptizes all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling, teaching and sealing them unto the day of redemption.

Section 3. Man

We believe man was created in the image and likeness of God. Through Adam all have inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Consequently, man is wicked and by himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.

Section 4. Salvation

We believe the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provides the only grounds for justification and forgiveness of sins. Salvation is God’s gift to all mankind. However, only those that receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and become children of God.15

A. SANCTIFICATION

We believe sanctification is a continuous work of the Holy Spirit in which the believer is set apart unto God and made whole in three ways:

       1. Positionally, by which God, the Father, declares the believer “holy” because of their standing “in Christ”.

       2. Progressively, by which the Holy Spirit uses the Word of God in cooperation with the believer to continually cleanse and empower them from conversion to consummation to maturity in Christ,” and

       3. perfected, pure and sinless as the believer beholds the Son of God in resurrection and is made completely like Christ.

B. CHRISTIAN LIVING

We believe God’s justifying grace cannot be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely, to live out our faith with genuine sacrificial love for other Christians, and to practically express compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With God’s Word, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, the believer successfully combats the spiritual forces of evil. In obedience to Christ’s commission, the believer makes disciples among all people and nations as they faithfully and practically bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

C. ETERNAL SECURITY

We believe all true believers everywhere, once saved, are saved forever. We also believe, God is a holy and righteous Father who cannot overlook the sin of His children. He will, if they persistently sin, chasten them and correct them in infinite love. Having undertaken to eternally save them and keep them, He cannot fail and will in the end present every one of them faultless before His presence in glory, conformed to the image of His Son.

Section 5. The Church

A. NATURE OF THE CHURCH

We believe the true Church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head. Therefore, each local church has the right to decide and govern its own affairs.

B. ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH

We believe water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church. They are not to be regarded as means of salvation.

Section 6. Angels

A. ANGELS OF GOD

We believe God created an innumerable company of sinless, spiritual beings known as angels. Angels were created as ministering agents.

B. SATAN & FALLEN ANGELS

We believe “Lucifer,” a divinely created spiritual being, sinned through pride, thereby becoming Satan. A great number of the angels followed him in his moral fall and became demons, and are active as his agents in the prosecution of his unholy purposes.

Section 7. Prophecy

We believe that Christ will come to rapture His church, followed by the tribulation of Israel. The second return of Christ and His reign will follow the tribulation, and then the final judgment of Satan and sin. Finally, God’s eternal kingdom will be set up in heaven and on earth.

Section 8. Response & Eternal Destiny

We believe God passionately desires everyone, everywhere, to believe the gospel and turn to Him in repentance and receive the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment. We believe that God will raise the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace.
